Bright, White, and Worn with Pride

I’m a proud Asian – but I have to admit that I seriously, honestly subscribe to the idea of keeping my skin as white as possible. Not apologizing for that at all. This is why I am constantly on a quest to find the best possible beauty product for my skin to keep it clear and white. This month, it’s all about reviewing the Black Pearl skin care product line called “Perla Blanca”.

Okay, obviously, the name hints at something that is the complete opposite of the brand name “Black Pearl”. Even then, it is no less luxurious compared to their other skin care product lines available in the Philippines. I tend to try things one at a time, just to see how well each product works on its own. This is so I can decide which items to keep in my beauty arsenal and which ones work well with different brands. For this skin care review, I started with the Sea of Spa’s Black Pearl Perla Blanca Whitening Gel Serum.

The point to serums is that they are essentially the boosters for your skin care routine. Aside from cleaning your skin thoroughly with a facial wash and applying toner and moisturizer, part of the “in-between” treatment should include facial scrubs (twice weekly), facial masks (two to three times weekly, depending on your needs), and, even before the first signs of ageing appear, facial serums (at least once daily). Doing this will ensure your skin elasticity remains more or less the same as when you were younger and will keep people guessing your age…at least until all your hair turns white!

This gel serum boasts the benefits of Dead Sea minerals combined with whitening ingredients that are guaranteed to even out your complexion. It comes in a very clean and simple, all-white bottle. This comes across to me as either brilliant because it gives you a visual reference for the effects to expect, or absolutely sterile, meaning the company focused on making an excellent product rather than releasing something mediocre and putting it in a fancy container. Knowing Black Pearl, though, it seems a mixture of both since their other lines do have fairly simple containers, as well.

I’ve been using the serum for a week now and I have to admit that, despite my skepticism, it succeeded in one thing that many other products I’ve tried failed at: to lighten a very old acne mark on my cheek. This single blemish has always bothered me. Usually, I try to cover it up with some makeup but after using this serum, no more concealing it! I don’t need to because it has almost completely blended in with the rest of my skin.

I’m currently still using my regular whitening moisturizer but I’m almost out of night cream so I will probably switch to the Perla Blanca Whitening Night Cream after. Given the results from the serum, I’m expecting big things from the Night Cream and I’m sure Black Pearl Cosmetics in Greenbelt Makati, Philippines will deliver that and more!
